Ink

As some of you via Facebook or Instagram may have already seen last night I was fortunate enough to have the talented Cash Scott from Chapter One Tattoo place some ink upon my forearm. It took a year of thinking an formulating, 4 months of counting down until my appointment and almost 3 hours of needlework until completion. Completely and totally worth it. Those of you who know me know I think tattoos should have a purpose so of course this one does.
I have this theory or belief or thought or whatever you want to call it that every choice you make can have a dramatic impact on the path of your life whether you see an immediate reaction or if its more of a subtle domino effect. The moment you hesitate to cross the street and it saves you from getting hit by a car or the day you choose a new coffee shop instead of the usual and run into an old friend. They are all little impacts with a potential alteration of a course. I think some people's paths are meant to cross to have an impact upon you. Those paths that keep crossing I don't think happen by chance. I have little faith in coincidence. I'm not saying coincidences don't exist but too often in my life there are have been situations and interactions that have too many things aligning to where its just coincidence. It has to mean something, it has to be more. I think whatever path you are on is the right one. There's no "wrong" path; just different ones. It's for us to see these interactions and value the path we're one and the life we live.
So in my tattoo that theory is represented through the elliptical geometric shapes in the background. They are the colors you see in a mountain desert sunset because not only is it beautiful but as something ends something entirely new starts. The crow feather follows where the paths takes it. Many people think of crows as ominous but majority of the cultures in the world see it otherwise. They are incredibly intelligent birds that are a symbol of rebirth to Native Americans. They believe that the crow is often a spirit guide to an individual on their path.
I am absolutely in love with this tattoo. It was done stunningly and is perfectly placed. The viewpoint works from any angle and even when I twist my arm as the feather twist with it. I am so happy that I found such a talented artist and such a classy shop. Thank you to Chapter One Tattoo and Cash Scott and thank you to Danny for not only loving this idea but going with me.
